Future Development of Plasmic Studio

Hi Plasmic Team,

I really enjoy using Plasmic, but I sometimes find it challenging to navigate the balance between its complexity and intuitiveness. I’m not a programmer, but I dabble in some code and understand certain concepts, even though I don’t have a full grasp of coding.

I noticed that Plasmic is marketed as a tool for no-coders to build powerful apps, and your website mentions that the app-building feature is on the way. Could you share more about what this will entail?

I recently started using Toddle, which offers a complete no-code approach within its editor. For example, it has a formula editor and step functions, which make the process straightforward for someone like me. Will the app-building features in Plasmic follow a similar approach? Or will it be more like WeWeb?

If so, I think this could be a real game changer, and I’d definitely stick with Plasmic. Right now, I’m struggling with the in-between of using Plasmic alongside code. I know it’s possible with more learning, but I find it tough to follow the documentation since I don’t fully understand coding.

That said, I really love the product, especially its design capabilities and the way you can split components into separate bits — something I haven’t seen in other app development tools. The recent improvements, like folders for pages, are also fantastic and a must-have for organizing websites.

Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi @dale_peart, great questions/feedback. Sorry it took so long to respond!

While many types of websites and apps can be built in Plasmic without code, we specialize in a hybrid approach where your code can be easily integrated with Plasmic. This is because we believe complex interactions/behaviors are still better kept in code rather that in an app. So to answer your question, Plasmic’s app-building features will be focused on code integrations rather than in app.
