Host images from Plasmic CMS richtext fields

Hello there,

It appears that when uploading images to a richtext field in the Plasmic CMS, the bytes of the image are directly included in the rich text field’s HTML output as a base64 data URI. This blocks the entire document’s load on the load of the image, which gets expensive quickly if the CMS is used e.g. for blog posts with several images.

Is there any plan for the Plasmic CMS rich text images to be hosted, in the same way that images added to components or pages are hosted from img.plasmic.app, or images uploaded to CMS image fields are hosted from site-assets.plasmic.app?

Thanks!

Hi, great question! Yes, the CMS rich text editor is currently very basic, but we do have plans to hoist images out and serve them optimized. Unfortunately no timeline around this, just that it’s on the road map.
