The artboard background setting is only a studio config, if you need a different background for the artboard to better view some component that’s what you can use. For element background property you can change it through the right sidebar
yes but i dont want any background property. i change the artboard background and it does not change the variant artboards

I see your point, that’s mainly to be more configurable, you may want to see one artboard with one background color and some other with a different one, but you have a point on defaulting to base when not set
